ABONUS Mail Expander is an application solution developed by ABONUS company and follows the original product Domino Mail Archive. The solution is designed for central archiving of mail boxes in medium and larger organizations that use Notes / Domino infrastructures.
ABONUS Mail Expander is an ideal tool to support management of Lotus Notes mail-boxes and Domino Mail servers. Transferring mail from mail-boxes to the expander ensures compliance with optimal operation conditions of mail-servers (fast reboot, restore data from backups, etc.) and maintains the value of investments in hardware equipment besides the continuous increase in volumes of information stored in individual user mail-boxes.
AME can significantly reduce the total backup time (up to several hours a day), and significantly lowers the demands on daily backups volume (expander backs up only after the start of AME profile, usually once in 14 days to a month).
ABONUS Mail Expander allows the user or administrator:
- to work with at least 5 times greater amount of emails in the mail database without having to regularly delete messages or move them to a local (non-backed) discs, because you have exceeded the assigned quota;
- quick searching emails stored in various places;

ABONUS Mail Expander operates according to defined rules, which define:
- selection of messages to be transferred to the expander, for example by contents of the "Subject" field, by the name of an attached file, or by other information (size, creation time, etc..) and their mutual combinations;
- selection of the mailboxes (databases) that are in the search for relevant reports (individual or group setting);
- times to run the expander-agents (typically once a month on Sunday afternoon);
- expander location (local or network drive, another Domino server designed for the operation of the expander;
ABONUS Mail Expander enables:
- transfer of found messages according to a corresponding profile to the expander and mark the original messages with the transfer icon in the main mailbox (the database). Only the basic (indexing) information on the mailremains in the mailbox, marked with the icon in the expander views. Information on transfer shall be entered into a special log file;
- to browse report in the expander in its original form;
- to restore a message in the expander with a single mouse click;
- search mail messages in the expander;
